Competed in sencha tea category at the All-Japan Tea Competitive Exhibition
Premium quality sencha
This sencha from Uji is one of Japan's top rated green teas, winning the All Japan Competitive Exhibition nearly every year. A truly exclusive tea with gentle but characteristic flavor, and pale yellow color. If you brew it with 75℃ water, the flavor will be mellow and slightly sweet, and if you use hotter water, around 85℃, the flavor will turn moderately astringent and refreshing.

First brew is fairly creamy and overall this is a high quality sencha. However, I would prefer the sencha unjo over this for both price and because I felt that the unjo displayed more sencha characteristic which is what I look for in my sencha tea whereas this displayed more gyokuro character. Still a very high quality tea although I also feel that it starts to brew weak immediately after the second brew.

I can attest to previous comments here, Sencha Teki Teki does have quite a different taste compared to previous senchas i've tasted. It tastes closer to a mid range gyokuro in my opinion but its lighter and with not as much caffeine.

I had to get past my initial impression of strangeness, the taste is really different from an usual sencha, for me it's very similar if not indistinguishable to mid-higher end gyokuro. It has the same density and cloudiness too. Considering that it is a sencha, so you only use one third of the quantity required for gyokuro, it has great value. It is very surprising that it can have such a strong taste with such little quantity to brew. Personally I always brew sencha at 65-70 °C for 1m20s-1m30s first brew and then 20-30s the others, and i keep preferring this parameter, but it's good at the suggested parameter as well.

Hands down the most delicious sencha I've ever tasted. I even tried it with the preparation of gyokuro and it was amazing. I absolutely recommend it!
