In my opinion, preparing this tea in the recommended way does not use its potential. I prepared it as a gyokuro, i.e. in the ratio of 1 g of leaf to 10 ml of water, water temperature 40 °C, 2 min. for the first infusion. The result was an intense tasting infusion with a nice umami, fresh green pea flavour and a trace of mint, with marginal bitterness. When brewed as a sencha, I was unable to achieve a soothing result. The taste was too mild for my taste, with some astringency. Grassy spinach notes dominated, and a slight secondary sweetness emerged. The use of a banko teapot helped a little to accentuate the flavour. In this context, I give four stars, but if I were to rate the tea purely as a sencha, I would only give three.

This is my first experience with this tea. The dry tea has a subtle green aroma no marked or noticeable floral notes to it. It is a favorable tea for a light morning tea, especially if you are seeking to transition into your morning gradually. The caffeine content was smooth with 5 grams and 3 grams steep. The liquor is light chartreuse and has a smooth mild, and balanced flavor - with no intense complexity. Leaves are bright green after steeping, unfurls and exhibits that it was made from tender shoots. The tea's characteristics are marked in the first 2 steeps and tapers off gradually on the subsequent steeps. This is a lovely morning tea for me, as I like its gradual flavors that awaken the senses slowly and the caffeine rise is not quick. The cha-chi is reminiscent of morning mist.

Beautiful package, a work of art. The tea is lovely, great looking leaves, clear liquid with no specks, the taste is balanced with super subtle astringency. This is not a weak tasting sencha, but a refined one with great mental clarity effects. A sencha to enjoy and serve to guests if they deserve it :), imagine to receive this one as a gift, wow !

Awesome Sencha. We tried up to ten different sencha teas from Sazen websites, but this one is definitely a leader so far.

I a currently enjoying ‘Hana Jirushi’ at my home in USA. It is elegant and refined. Delightful with sweets, or enjoyed by itself in the afternoon, it never fails to please.
