胴体が幅広で底が浅い為、湯量が調整しやすく、茶葉の開きもよく見える急須です。
この朱泥土は今から約半世紀前に愛知県の知多半島の田んぼの下から採取された田土が原料であり、天然の朱泥土が持つ良さを引き出して山田氏によって制作されています。使い込んでいくことにより本朱泥急須ならではのツヤがあらわれてきます。

Incredible Kyusu! Great clay (maybe the best I have seen so far) and wall thickness - if you like yamakai sencha, this pot will make you very happy (the straight lines of the taste profile come out even more present). It is really an experience, comparing porcelain and this kyusu, or even different shudei kyusus with that pot.

This is a well engineered pot with a lightning-fast pour. It makes great tea as well. Bits of leaf do tend to get stuck in the bottom of the filter, but I have found this to be the case with ball filters. A solution is to fill the pot with water, put on the lid, hold the pot and lid tight, and shake the pot back and forth vigorously. Be careful not to lose your grip! This always dislodges the stuck leaves for me, and I always find leaf bits after doing this on all my ball filter pots.

I was surprised by how light this pot is. Despite its look, it is rather delicate. I pours well and the ball filter catches most of the leaves. It looks very well proportioned and elegant. The only downside is the ball filter. Given the shallowness, the ball filter is touching the bottom of the pot. Small leaves get wedged between the ball filter and the bottom of the pot. It takes a bit of effort to dislodge the leaves, but it's not a deal breaker. I like this pot very much.
