The smell is very reminiscent of sweet potato. It's sweet and pleasant. I actually thought this was kind of bland when I first tried it. But I just finished a can of Horii Shichimeien's "Award-Winning Matcha", so that could've skewed my taste buds a bit (because that matcha was out of this world). I tried Kiun again today and found that although this matcha isn't anything to write home about, it's mildness is noteworthy. Very easy to drink and velvety smooth. I actually really enjoy it.

Good pumpkin seed flavor & right amt of umami for my taste w a hint of sweetness. As a koicha, in same price range, still prefer the Suisho no mukashi, slightly I think and as usucha, as another reviewer mentioned, I think the kiyo no mori is a better deal w a similar flavor profile. But definitely a top koicha matcha for me (I try to stay under $18//20 gm for koicha). I’d give it 4.5 stars really.

Kiun has a very intriguing amalgamation of three quintessential flavors found in ceremonial matcha: umami, subtle sweetness and a hint of astringency. The aftertaste reminds me of harvested autumn vegetables such as kabocha or yakimo. This is a matcha that serves equally well in an elaborate tea ceremony or as a daily matcha.

This is a pleasant usucha. But in my opinion kiyo no mori is better and cheaper

A wonderful usucha! I can't sing it enough praise! Pleasantly vegetal - like wet grass and sweet peas - pistachios, and soy milk. Be forewarned: drinking Kiun as an usucha is a recipe for disaster.....you will NOT want to drink anything less!

This is my favourite macha from my favourite producer. I drink it as Usucha and it is the best value for money I have found so far. I have tried others at slightly higher price points and keep coming back to Kiun, as none matched its level of smoothness and aromas. It has no bitterness and so much to offer. It doesn’t have the subtlety of Choan, but then that one is more than double the price, so Kiun is my daily macha.

I loved it as a thin tea! Once I opened the can it smelled sweet and creamy. Its taste holds a strong umami. Excellent as everyday matcha drink :)

Once you open the can you notice the sweet fragrance. Very smooth and refreshing. I prefered it over Narino. Now I ordered the first flush from the same manufacture.

Great as usucha and very rich with lots of umami. One of my all time favorites. It’s easy to get spoiled drinking this and then drinking lower level teas and be wanting to only drink Kiun as an everyday matcha. For me this is a treat and not what I drink everyday, so that when I drink it I appreciate it more.

The scent in the tin is so sweet. A delicious, delicate, and creamy matcha - made as usucha.
