This is almost my No. 1 Matcha from Koyamaen. The price point is reasonable and the taste is slightly sweet and creamy. Perfect for mornings where I want some peace and calm before the madness of the day starts.

My go to matcha for every day drinking, like all of the excellent Maryuku Koamaen matchas this is sweet and creamy and easy to froth. I consume about a 40 gram tin of this every 2 weeks (and then other matchas as well not necessarily all US organic certified). Highly recommend for anyone wanting both high quality authentic matcha and organic certified.

Love it, it is my favorite. I ordered 2 cans of 40g each. Shipped by FedEx. Took 5 days for FedEx to pickup from Japan, after than took only 2 (two) days to deliver!!!! No extra cost (such as Intl tax..). This is great. Next time I will try to order 4 cans and make sure total under 10K JPY , I wonder if still pay no Custom Tax in US? Anyone knows?

Wow! The matcha alone is sweet, pleasant taste! not bitter at all. I am very happy, organic and sweet. Glad that Sazen has organic matcha. Ship by FedEx is very fast . Much faster than I expected. I will order and use FedeX again.

I wanted to try an organic matcha and this was a good entry one. I find the taste is very neutral and no bitterness so it's easy to make it into usucha or turn it into a latte with some milk even.

the 2017 harvest seems to have more umami than I remember from other years. It also seems less bitter more balanced and overall better. Great vintage year for this matcha and I hope 2018 is as good. It should be at harvest now.

Great everyday Matcha. Nice balance of umami and sweet vegetal notes. I find it to be one of the best values available for the quality. This will be my daily Matcha. I also appreciate the very fast shipping.

probably the best value of all Marukyu Koyamaen matchas. Nice balance with a good amount of umami and only slight bitterness. I prefer to make this at lower than regular temperature to bring out more umami and less bitterness. Made this way it tastes higher end than it is. this is my go to matcha for every day.

So I’m updating my review here and if organic is super important to you … you should stick w my original review and not read this. :-). So first: I’ve been reading a lot abt and organic foods generally and matcha production specifically and I came to the conclusion that organic matcha wasn’t that critical to me. 98% of the produce I consume is organic, and I thought some foods - which aren’t perhaps known to require a ton of pesticides and/or where processing ends up removing them - are ok for me in conventional form. It’s minimizing total dose overall that matters. So over the past few months I started trying all different kinds of matchas - mostly in the Maryuku Koyamaen line - and reading abt them and my palate has improved. I’m now finding that there are plenty of usuchas that are often times even cheaper than the organic which are to me vastly superior in taste abs texture. I’m currently drinking the Sanyu no Shiro abs before that the (delicious!) kiyo no mori and I find both of these to have more umami, more sweetness, more delicious pumpkin seed flavor (in the Sanyu case anyway), vs the organic, which I’m now finding to be both a bit more bitter, less sweet, and having an almost chalkier or definitely less velvety mouth feel. I don’t think the organic silver is at all bad … but if organic matcha is not your absolute commitment … I’d definitely recommend others as both more delicious and having a more complex, richer mouth feel. This is something I wouldn’t have noticed a 6 months ago honestly, like any varietal thing (wine, etc) it takes some time to develop your ability to sense the differences and subtleties … I’m still amazed at what some people say they can taste! … and so you sorta gotta decide what’s important to you. :-)
