宇治の茶問屋、芳香園濃茶薄茶両用抹茶宝亀

宝亀は、コクのある味わい深い濃茶で、その味わいと香りが素晴らしく、大変印象に残る抹茶です。その豊かな風味が飲み終わった後も口の中に長く残り、余韻を楽しむことができます。
主に濃茶として飲まれますが、薄茶としても美味しくいただけます。低温の水でも、苦くなりにくい抹茶です。香雲に比べると、コクがあり甘さを感じる味わいです。

茶銘「宝亀」：
財（宝）に恵まれた長寿を願ってつけられた茶銘です。「宝」は、貴重な物、財宝、財産といった意味があり、「亀」は、鶴は千年、亀は万年という言葉があることから、長寿で縁起のよい動物とされ、長寿の象徴であるといえます。

A beautiful bright green color. However, the first taste to hit the tongue is very tannic, it then somehow turns mellow and smooth. I made it as both usucha and koicha and would give it an okay rating. 4 stars because of the smooth and clean taste that follows the initial impression.

omg such a good matcha!! reminds me of some marukyu koyamen matcha when that was still available. i use it in iced matcha lattes. love it <333

Houki Matcha from Hokoen has become my go-to for iced matcha lattes. It has a full body with a nutty, creamy flavor that pairs beautifully with whole grass-fed milk. What I appreciate most is the absence of those marine, seaweed-like notes you sometimes find in matcha, flavors that, in my experience, don’t play well in cold milk-based drinks. The grind is excellent, fine and smooth, which makes a huge difference. Even when I’m traveling and don’t have my usual chasen, I can just toss it in a mini shaker and still get a velvety, delicious latte on the go. If I have one complaint, it’s that I wish Hokoen would release this in a 200 g can. I fly through the 100 g version far too quickly ;)

Scent: sweet aroma with some sour notes, almost fruity. When I used it for making usacha, some slight notes of sweet and sour remained, but they were not very pronounced. Full-bodied umami with no real hint of a dry taste or bitterness. Very interesting matcha

Very mild and clean taste, almost floral. Great as Koicha, and not good as Usucha. I might get it again given its reasonable price.
