One of the popular, likeable usucha matcha of Hokoen with a rich taste
Koushu is an entry-level tea in the world of elegant, substantial usucha teas. This is a full-bodied, gently balanced, creamy and slightly sweet matcha with pronounced, pleasantly mild flavors. Compared to the Eiraku, next on our list, it is a fuller-bodied tea free of tart or bitter notes. This tea is to be brewed with water of at least 80 degrees Celsius.
The meaning of Koushu "晃秀" :
The Chinese character「晃」(“kou”) has the meaning of shining brightly in the sun, and the character「秀」(“shu”) has meanings related to excellence. By combining these two meanings, the tea maker hopes that the one enjoying this tea can symbolically move towards the warmth of the sun to be loved for eternity.

STEP 1) Put 2g (0.4 US tsp, 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku scoop) matcha powder into a suitable tea bowl.
STEP 2) Pour 70 ml (2.4 fl oz) 80℃ (176°F) water over the matcha powder.
STEP 3) Whisk with a chasen (tea whisk) until foamy.
❖ Before Step 1, warm up the tea bowl with hot water, then dry it with a cloth to create the perfect temperature so make the most delicious matcha with a fresh scent while preparing. (Optional)
❖ To prevent clotting of the matcha powder, sift it through a fine strainer before use. (Strongly recommended)
❖ After the matcha is done, drink it immediately, because as it cools down it gets more and more bitter. (Recommended)
❖ Freshness is the most important thing for the enjoyment of Matcha. It is best to use up the tea within one month of opening. (Strongly recommended)
EXTRA TIP
❖ Try iced matcha: pour the finished matcha over ice.

the matcha has vibrant green colour, taste like green vegetal little bit grassy but in good way, i tried it as latte with oat milk mix with cashew milk no sweetener, for the price i think its good for beginner as its doesnt have bitterness at all

This matcha is delicious in a whole milk latte! So creamy

the flavor strongly reminds me of spinach? powder is very green and froths up really nicely, and it's not astringent, but it has a bit of bitterness and sweetness and tartness, reminiscent of spinach or arugula. it's very green tasting, which isn't bad, but not exactly what i thought it would taste like. as a latte with oat milk, the matcha flavour is completely gone, even when adding a lot of powder. would recommend strictly for usucha but not anything else.

Fits the description pretty well. I found this to be one dimensional and lacking umami and other notes that give a matcha depth. It's sweet and creamy with no bitterness so I think this would be good for beginners. However, for my tastes I think this matcha is too simple. When I prepared it as a latte, the matcha flavor got lost and it was almost just like drinking sweetened milk. I'd personally give it 2.5-3 stars, but as I said, it does fit sazen's description well. If you're new to matcha, this would be a great place to start, especially if you're not a fan of bitterness, marine notes, or grassy notes.

Decided to try this as it had a lower price point. I was disappointed when I tried the tea, and could not find the right temperature or concentration. The same brand Eiraku is so much better and it is less expensive. I do not recommend this tea.
