Kim Heung-Bok's artwork from the Goam kiln.
His celadon works feature refined glazes and delicate crackle patterns, blending traditional aesthetics with his personal, warm sensibility. Spanning vases, jars, and tea bowls, the pieces have simple, graceful forms that fit naturally into contemporary living spaces.

In Korean symbolism, the peony (botan) represents prosperity and nobility. It has long been associated with royalty and high status, often appearing in court art, textiles, and ceramics as a wish for abundance and success. Beyond material wealth, the peony also symbolizes beauty, elegance, and happiness, making it a popular motif in traditional decorative arts and celebratory contexts.

The special technique of the Seiji Botanmon chawan:
The process begins with shaping the clay, applying an underglaze, and allowing the piece to dry. The artist then carves the pattern and adds additional clay, giving the surface a sculptural quality. The work is first fired at 900°C, then glazed and fired again at 1,200°C to achieve its final finish. This meticulous and complex process makes the completed piece especially rich and luxurious.

About Celadon Ware
Celadon ware is significant for its jade-like green glaze, refined forms, and technical sophistication, representing one of the highest achievements of East Asian ceramic art, especially in China from the Song dynasty. It embodied ideals of harmony, restraint, and natural beauty, and was closely associated with court aesthetics.
In Korea, celadon ware (Goryeo celadon, 10th–14th centuries) reached a distinctive peak, admired for its luminous blue-green glaze and the innovative inlay technique (sanggam), which set it apart from Chinese traditions. Korean celadon became a symbol of Goryeo artistic identity and was highly valued both domestically and abroad for its elegance and technical mastery. Some of the prominent pieces are exhibited in the Tokyo National Museum.

The tea bowl comes in a stylish Korean paper gift box.
