Kyoyaki Matcha bowl
Yohei Nakamura' art work.
This matcha bowl is decorated with the iconic "Mishima technique". The bowl is first glazed, and then inlaid with flower motives by a ceramic stamp. After the the pattern is incised, the potter fills it with paint and covers the bowl once again with transparent glaze.
This inlay technique was mastered in Korea and introduced to Japan by Korean potters probably in the 16th century.
Place of origin: Kyoto, Japan

After using the tea bowl, rinse it gently with water. Do not put it in dishwasher or dryer. Always wash by hand!
Do not use strong dishwashing soap, only soft, organic soap.
Usage:
Avoid placing it on hot surfaces, like stove, and never use in microwave or oven.
Storage:
After use always dry it with a towel. If you live in a place with rainy seasons or high humidity, always make sure that the walls are dry enough, because constant exposure to moisture might damage the bowl. If mould or unusual odor develops on the bowl, prepare tea in it every day. (Do not drink that tea, just discard it.) The smell should be gone in a week. In case it is not, contact us for further instructions.
