Cherry Bark Chashaku Shimofuri

Cherry bark craftsmanship originates from Akita Prefecture and has a history spanning more than 200 years. The base of the scoop is bamboo, with wild cherry bark carefully pressed onto its surface. This traditional woodworking technique is not only beautiful but also eco-friendly, as harvesting the bark does not harm the tree — the peeled bark naturally grows back over time.

"Shimofuri" is a technique when the cherry bark's surface is left natural instead of a polished finish.

Each tea scoop is individually hand-carved, resulting in natural variations in finish and texture. Cherry bark has its own unique character, with irregularities that are part of its natural beauty.
