Entry grade matcha in Marukyu-Koyama’s range suitable for making usucha
$9.72 / 40 g
Matcha blend to be served cold by Yamamasa Koyamaen
SUMMER EDITION
Uji matcha tea for making usucha (thin tea) on ice.
This tea is created especially for making cold matcha.
Matcha with a pleasantly refreshing, smooth, creamy taste we recommend prepared cold. After sifting, pour cold water over it instead of hot!
When prepared hot, it gives a characteristically tart flavor, but even if pouring the hot matcha over ice the flavor is tamed and offers a sweet, delicious, dessert-like experience.
Don't miss this special, seasonal tea variety of Yamamasa Koyamaen, a traditional, well-known Uji matcha brand!

ICED MATCHA
STEP 1) Sift 2g (0.4 US tsp, 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku scoops) matcha powder into the tea bowl and mix it until creamy with a little lukewarm water.
STEP 2) Pour 40 ml (1.2 fl.oz) cold water over the matcha 'cream'.
STEP 3) Whisk with a chasen (tea whisk) until foamy.
STEP 4) Add ice.
HOT MATCHA
STEP 1) Warm up a tea bowl with hot water, then dry it with a cloth.
STEP 2) Put 2g (0.4 US tsp, 1 teaspoon, or 2 chashaku scoops) matcha powder into the bowl.
STEP 3) Pour 60-70 ml (2.4 fl oz) 80℃ (176°F) water over the matcha powder.
STEP 4) Whisk with a chasen (tea whisk) until foamy.
OPTIONAL: you can also put ice cubes into the ready hot matcha to enjoy it in a cold way.
❖ To prevent clotting of the matcha powder, sift it through a fine strainer before use. (Strongly recommended)
❖ Freshness is the most important thing for the enjoyment of Matcha. It is best to use up the tea within one month of opening. (Strongly recommended)

Nice matcha! I drink it on ice and it is very pleasant, creamy and refreshing. No bitter for me, I love it ♡

This matcha is sharp & tart with a grass-like smell. It becomes deep dark green color tea. It tastes like lower grade matcha for this price range. It should be blended with sencha to make a cold brew. Definitely not an usucha quality. I like the packaging design, but disappointing overall.
