Koicha blend favoured by Sohenryu Yūyūsai Sōshō
This tea shines both as an usucha and koicha. As an usucha it offers a gentle aroma with a full-bodied, sweet, and creamy flavor, reminiscent of a rich, pampering cake. The main notes are toasty, nutty flavors of toasted almond, macadamia, and pistachio cream, balanced by subtle verdant notes.
The pampering creamy feel and dessert-like character shows as a koicha too. Hatsune no Mukashi makes a light, sweet, silky, and well-balanced thick tea.

USUCHA
STEP 1: Place 1.5–2 g (approx. ½ tsp or 2 chashaku (traditional tea scoop)) of matcha powder into a suitable tea bowl.
STEP 2: Pour 70 ml (2.4 fl oz) of 80°C (176°F) water over the powder.
STEP 3: Whisk (vigorously) with a chasen (tea whisk) until frothy.
❖ Warm the tea bowl with hot water first, then dry it thoroughly with a cloth. This helps maintain the ideal temperature and brings out the fresh aroma of the matcha.
❖ Sift the matcha powder through a fine strainer before use to prevent clumping (strongly recommended).
❖ Drink the matcha immediately after preparing it, as it may become more bitter as it cools.
❖ After opening the matcha packaging, consume all the tea within one month for the best experience.

Sweet and nutty matcha. Super good and high-quality matcha. Would highly recommend, one of my favourite blends from KS!

I make usacha with this matcha powder. It has a rich umami flavour with just the slightest hint of dryness in the aftertaste (not really a bitter aftertaste). In more concentrated form, the matcha has a nut-like taste woven in. Very interesting taste, it whips up nice and foamy and has great colour!

The scent and taste remind me strongly of roast soy bean powder(Kinako 黄粉). I used this matcha to make Usacha, the nutty flavour becomes part of a full-bodied umami flavour and moves to the background, there is just the slightest hint of astringency, but this is almost unnoticeable. The taste makes me nostalgic for my my time in Japan. I imagine that the nutty flavour would be more pronounced in Koicha. I've ordered it multiple times, this matcha is excellent
