Supreme quality shincha from Marukyu Koyamaen
Gokujo Shincha is an extraordinarily flavorful supreme tea from the first harvest of the year, 2026.
It has an elegant, sophisticated, full-bodied taste resembling that of shaded green teas.
Try to experiment with the water temperature and steeping time. Cooler water, around 60-70℃ and longer steeping time (50-60 sec.) bring out the deep umami notes better, while hotter, 85℃ water makes a fresh, verdant tea, where the slight bitterness adds to its refreshing qualities.

1. Put 5 g of tea leaves into a Japanese teapot.
2. Cool boiled water down to 70℃ and pour it into the teapot.
3. Steep for 40 seconds and pour the equal amount of tea in each cup.
You can use the same tea leaves three times. Use hotter water at the second and the third time.
These used tea leaves should be immersed for a shorter time than the first.
The taste of tea is a matter of preference, so try infusing tea in several ways and find your favorite way to infuse.

Not as flavorful as I like, it's more enjoyable smelling it in the bag than from the cup. I tried it at 70C, 80C, and 85C. Too weak. Preferred Shincha Samidori and Kagoshima Shincha Yabukita, which are excellent to me. Just my opinion, maybe I am doing something wrong as others seem to like it.

Nice Tea! I would recommend brewing this at a lower temperature if you are sensitive to bitter things. At 70-75 I got nice results. Nice full umami flavor and fresh scent. Even the 3rd steep was still flavorful with only a slight pleasant astringency. I probably wouldn't go past 4 steeps though lol.

My first Gokujo Shincha tea and it was heavenlyl!!! Description is "supreme green tea" and that is an understatement. This is THE shincha tea you needed but didn't know you needed it! Words cannot describe how wonderful this tea is!!! Thank you for the hard work that is involved in making this wonderful tea to only be appreciated by so few but we thank you over and over again!!! I purchased last week and it is now out of stock. I am very grateful I am one of the people to be able to enjoy it!!!

Upon opening the bag of loose leaves, I can immediately smell the tea! It has that unique scent similar to a cup of freshly steamed milk. Mind you, this is tea! When I added 80ºC water, the scent became pleasantly prominent to the nose on the first brew. The flavor of the tea itself is clear, rich, and milky but finishes with a slight sweetness. 2nd brew brings out more of the typical characteristics of sencha, which is slightly astringent. Still kept the milky and clean finish. I will definitely get this Shincha again next year. I highly recommend it!
