Koicha Matsukazemukashi Koicha Matsukazemukashi Koicha Matsukazemukashi Koicha Matsukazemukashi Koicha Matsukazemukashi Koicha Matsukazemukashi

Matsukazemukashi is “entry-level” matcha in the Kanbayashi koicha tea portfolio.

This koicha tea is pleasantly full-bodied with a light toasty-nutty flavor and a hint of astringency. When prepared as usucha, it is smooth, light, and pleasantly full-bodied, with a creamy, slightly nutty finish.

How to prepare

HOW TO PREPARE

As Koicha:
STEP 1) Put 4g (0.8 US tsp, 2 teaspoon or 4 chashaku scoop) matcha powder into a suitable tea bowl.
STEP 2) Pour 30 ml (1 fl oz) 85℃ (185°F) water over the matcha powder.
STEP 3) Gently mix with a chasen (tea whisk) until creamy.

As Usucha:
STEP 1) Put 2g (0.4 US tsp, 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku scoop) matcha powder into a suitable tea bowl.
STEP 2) Pour 75 ml (2.4 fl oz) 85℃ (185°F) water over the matcha powder.
STEP 3) Whisk with a chasen (tea whisk) until foamy.

❖ Before Step 1, warm up the tea bowl with hot water, then dry it with a cloth to create the perfect temperature so make the most delicious matcha with a fresh scent while preparing. (Optional)
❖ To prevent clotting of the matcha powder, sift it through a fine strainer before use. (Strongly recommended)
❖ After the matcha is done, drink it immediately, because as it cools down it gets more and more bitter. (Recommended)
❖ Freshness is the most important thing for the enjoyment of Matcha. It is best to use up the tea within one month of opening. (Strongly recommended)

Super mild and non-umami matcha. Very smooth and perfect for those who don't like the astringency and bitterness with some blends of matcha.

I bought this one because I wanted to try different varieties of matcha and omggg this one was so good that I’m planning on buying more!! It’s nutty and doesn’t leave that bitterness taste. Tastes amazing in a latte. Totally recommend if you’re a beginner!

!this one smells really good! Like a sweet umami peanut snack. I think the name means Wind in the Pines or something, and it's a good name for it - crisp, bold, umami, and nutty. This tastes like the next pokemon evolution of Aya no Mori but less astringent and less bitter, and with more depth/complexity.

This was my first matcha that had a stronger umami flavor to it and I absolutely loved it. I finished my 20g far too quickly and will be reordering once it is in stock again.

Nice color but gritty texture. As an usucha it has a low but lingering bitterness with light umami notes and a slightly nutty finish. As a koicha it has the same type of bitterness, more noticeable -but still mild- umami notes and a slight toasty flavor. It has low astringency, almost unnoticeable if you don´t pay close attention. As a latte it had a mellow grassy taste with no umami nor bitterness; I didn´t notice any nutty nor toasty notes. When prepared with 80°C water its bitterness reminded me to that of burnt toast; when using 85°C water its bitterness seemed like that of 80% dark chocolate. This matcha is definitely full-bodied, but it has a very short finish, which left me hanging for more with every sip. Its low but lingering bitterness may be a downside for some people. If you don´t enjoy some bitterness in your matcha this may not be for you. It is a solid option for a daily usucha, but it´s not really up there in terms of koicha. Personally it´s not a bad matcha, but neither a memorable one.

it's so good as a latte- not too light at all. i liked it as a koicha and it was also good as an usucha although slightly bitter but not too unpleasantly so. the description is quite accurate, although i didn't get a bunch of umami really (or maybe i just don't know how to notice it), but i still really liked it. this matcha might also become a daily matcha for me 👍

I absolutely love how rich this is! it is perfect for lattes. The umami is so good and there was no astringency! I ordered the 20g can and finished it so I ordered the 100g can right away!
