Copper alloy waste-water container for tea ceremonies and tea sessions
"Kensui" is a vessel used in Japanese tea ceremony for disposing of the water used to rinse and purify tea utensils. It plays an important role in both "sado" (matcha tea ceremony) and "senchado" (sencha tea ceremony). It's also a useful item for Chinese tea sessions where tea vessels are pre-warmed before brewing.
Karakane is a dark-toned alloy made by adding small amounts of lead, tin, and other metals to copper.
It is called by this name because the method of making it was introduced from China (the Tang dynasty).
An efugo is a type of feed pouch carried by a falconer.
Because it resembles this pouch in shape, a kensui (waste-water bowl used in tea ceremony) that has a bag-like form with an open top is called an efugo.

Cleaning
Rinse with warm water immediately after use and wipe gently with a soft cloth; avoid soaking. Use no soap unless absolutely necessary, and never use abrasives or metal polish.
Dry thoroughly every time to prevent corrosion.
Natural darkening and surface patina are normal and valued—do not try to restore shine.
Storage
Store in a dry, stable environment away from humidity, heat, and fumes.
Do not stack directly against hard objects that can scratch the surface.
