Oribe Mizusashi

A mizusashi (fresh water jar) is used in the tea ceremony to hold fresh water. This water is used to refill the kettle and to rinse the tea whisk and tea bowl.

About Mino Ware (Mino-yaki)
Mino ware is a type of Japanese pottery made in the Tono region of southern Gifu Prefecture, which produces more than half of Japan's ceramics. Its origins date back to the Heian period, but it flourished during the Sengoku period (15-16th century) under the economic reforms of Oda Nobunaga, one of Japan's most powerful daimyō ( feudal lord), who learned the Way of Tea from Sen no Rikyū himself.

Mino ware became especially famous with the rise of Oribe ware, named after Furuta Oribe, a tea master and daimyō who studied under Sen no Rikyu. Oribe ware broke away from traditional styles with its intentionally irregular shapes, rich dark green glazes, and bold geometric designs, making it one of the most distinctive ceramic styles used in the tea ceremony.
