Small teapot with inlaid pattern by Yamamoto Taisen

Special Banko teapot decorated with "Mishima technique". The teapot is first glazed, and then inlaid with flower motives by a ceramic stamp. After the the pattern is incised, the potter fills it with paint and covers the teapot once again with transparent glaze.
This inlay technique was mastered in Korea and introduced to Japan by Korean potters probably in the 16th century.
The teapot is glazed also on the inside, which makes it ideal for all classes of tea, including Chinese and Taiwanese teas.

Initiation:
Before first use, rinse it with hot water, then let it dry completely!
Usage:
Avoid placing it on hot surfaces, like stove, and never use in microwave or oven.
Cleaning:
Tea stain is the natural part of a teapot's "maturing process", but if you prefer to avoid it, rinse the teapot well after every use, do not let the tea leaves sit in it for too long. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid, but you can use gentle, organic soap to clean your pot. Never use bleach!
Avoid using dishwasher or dryer!
To clean the built-in strainer, run water backwards from the spout, or use a toothbrush or toothpick.
Storage:
After use, always let it dry completely, for if stored away while still wet, it might develop an unpleasant smell or mold.

Perfect small pot, pours cleanly and the clay filter works for most all loose leaf teas of decent quality. It look me a while to really learn this pot's quirks but my one has about a 10 second pour (yours may vary) so depending on the tea I give it a count of 10 to 20 then pour. Holds a teaspoon of oolong comfortably after expansion and can easily be used with much more tea when using gyokuro or sencha for concentrated short steeps. Capacity isn't much so it's ideal for one or possibly two people depending on your cups. I liked this pot so much I ended up getting another by Taisen with similar colors and a side handle! Just make sure you don't get a stray leaf on the area where the lid and pot meet, the fit is very tight but glides open and closed, which is proof that Taisen is a master of the craft.
