Notes on Horii Shichimeien’s price increase

From early April, Horii Shichimeien increases the prices of their teas by an average of 15%. The rise varies depending on the teas and will be the highest for Gyokuro Oku no Yama (a carefully processed special tea from Shichimeien’s exclusive medieval tea garden) with a 50% increase.

As tea is an agricultural product, its quality is ever-changing. Depending on the weather and the amount of care the tea plantation receives, a harvest can be exceptionally good in one year and passable in another. Horii Shichimeien is one of the few producers whose mission is to provide equally high-quality teas year by year. They make remarkable efforts to compensate for the weather conditions and thoroughly test all their teas before releasing new batches to the market.

This exclusive focus on quality cannot be underrated, and Horii Shichimeien’s ambitions are paying off. Their name has become the emblem of superior tea, having an ever-stable position among award winners in all the tea competitions they participate in. Their tea was recognized and appreciated by the Imperial Family who honored the owner, Horii Chotaro for his important work in the field of tea.

Now, their strong position in the tea market is calling for changes. They decided to raise the quality even further and build a strong brand. They improved and modernized their factory and re-blended several teas, therefore customers receive renewed and improved premium products for the new prices. At Sazen Tea, we believe in the importance of quality. We would like to reach out to all tea lovers in the World and ask them for their continued support of Horii Shichimeien and the quality-focused Uji tea production.
