Marukyu Koyamaen Supreme Matcha competed in the All-Japan Tea Competitive Exhibition
The Marukyu-Koyamaen tea portfolio’s highest grade, award-winning tea (Matcha prized at The All-Japan Competitive Tea Exhibition). Tenju, or "Tea from Heaven,” is the finest koicha matcha available, a genuine curiosity, absolutely unrivaled among classic matcha teas. Tenju boasts an exquisitely sophisticated composition. Prepared as usucha or thin tea it is ethereal in its lightness, boasting the softest of flavors. Prepared as koicha or a thick, creamy tea, it releases its soft, sweet, delicate flavors slowly, then giving way to a lingering sensation.

HOW TO PREPARE
As Koicha:
STEP 1) Put 4g (0.8 US tsp, 2 teaspoon or 4 chashaku scoop) matcha powder into a suitable tea bowl.
STEP 2) Pour 30 ml (1 fl oz) 80℃ (176°F) water over the matcha powder.
STEP 3) Gently mix with a chasen (tea whisk) until creamy.
❖ Before Step 1, warm up the tea bowl with hot water, then dry it with a cloth to create the perfect temperature so make the most delicious matcha with a fresh scent while preparing. (Optional)
❖ To prevent clotting of the matcha powder, sift it through a fine strainer before use. (Strongly recommended)
❖ After the matcha is done, drink it immediately, because as it cools down it gets more and more bitter. (Recommended)
❖ Freshness is the most important thing for the enjoyment of Matcha. It is best to use up the tea within one month of opening. (Strongly recommended)

This was the favored matcha of my soulmate, the one that got away. When I imbibe in it's splendor and glory, I am transported to a place beyond time. A truly sublime experience. Ethereal, ephemeral, its flavors are reminiscent of sweet rice, a manna of the plant world. Closing my eyes, I see fields of green tea, dew twinkling on their leaves.. And then after a life age passes in a moment, I'm back in the kitchen. Liking holding onto a dream, or gripping a handful of sand, the harder you hold onto the ephemeral eternal bliss, the quicker it slips away. To enjoy it best is to quiet it's mind and let it be. It is its own thing, and it will show you something special if you let it be. As the flavor fades, it's like a sublime memory of the one that got away. The best you'll ever have.. Maybe i'll have another cup.

Before I bought Tenju, I already had some very high expectations based on a combination of the price and the reviews. While this matcha is very much an excellent one, I ultimately would say that it is too similar to the Choan matcha (when prepared as a koicha). That being said, it is a whole different story when prepared as an usucha. I can safely say that Tenju, as an usucha, is without a doubt one of the best ceremonial matcha that I have ever tasted. I was immediately struck by how the initial taste was very reminiscent of mildly sweet cream, followed by soft lingering notes of umami. All in all, Tenju is the crowning jewel of Marukyu-Koyamaen.

Expensive with a astringent smell , for this price it's not worth it

Finest Matcha ever, I mean ever! I been drinking high quality Matchas from other Japanese vendors for the past 2 years, I read about Marukyu-Koyamaen and placed an order right away, for Matcha Tenju. It blew my mind away, astonished by its fineness, delightfulness, it's the joy of perfection. Ill be ordering this and only this matcha forever! Thanks Marukyu-Koyamaen & Sazentea!

Very special Matcha ... Matcha that accompanies and guides me at the same time in my deepest meditations in the morning ... Soft and round flavor, but with energy that harmonizes my interior ... it shows all kinds of nuances that are expected of a matcha of the highest quality. And to go one step further (for many this can be almost a sacrilege) in the search for the most interesting flavor, sometimes I mix it with "Premium Matcha Narino". This for me is touching the sky!

Love, love this tea. I have recommended this over and over to my family and friends. Super smooth taste and so good for you. A family member of mine saw lowered cholesterol after drinking tea for several months.

What an amazing Matcha. Bright vibrant tea with a wonderful aroma. Milled to an excellent fine powder, this Matcha required no sifting and produced an amazing foam when whisked. Smooth on the palette with a long lingering aftertaste too. Can be used to make both Usucha and Koicha. This is an expensive Matcha but in my opinion, worth every penny.

This tea is totally different from the classical matcha. This tea is a beginning of a new chapter. Mainly for koicha. Very soft, smooth, long-lasting taste that develops slowly after swallowing. An extraordinary tea that will change your idea about matcha.
