Tanka Kinyō Kyūsu

Unique, side-handled teapot from Tanikawa Jin.

The firing techinique and the leaves fired into the lid makes every teapot one of a kind. "Kinyō" means "golden leaf", a name that reflects the beautiful golden hue that appears where the leaf is burned into the surface during the kiln firing. We have a total of five teapots available, and since each one differs slightly in finish, shape, and capacity, they are marked individually from A to E.

Tanka, literally meaning "carbonization", is a technique, when the ceramic ware is fired for over 30 hours in a reduction chamber.
