Description

Yuteki Tenmoku glaze originally came from the tea bowls that were used in the Tianmu Mountain region in Zhejiang Province of China during the Kamakura period.
The name Yuteki (literally meaning “oil drop”) came from the oil-like spots that appear on the surface of the glaze.
The shiny droplets glaring in the blackish brown glaze look as if someone dropped oil on the surface of water.
In the world of Japanese tea ceremony, Tenmoku is the representative of tea bowls, but Shōryū Kiln, famous for its Tokoname wares, makes various Yuteki Tenmoku teapots, using this Yuteki glaze on their creations.
