A sweet and fruity, highly-scored competitive grade kabusecha blend
A sophisticated and elegant kabusecha blend made of only highly scored competitive teas from the 79th National Tea Competition 2025, where elite entries compete nationally for top honors. The tea sits perfectly between gyokuro and sencha, with careful steaming and shading creating a balanced character. It offers soft, konbu dashi broth umami alongside bright green freshness—ideal for those who enjoy a gentle, flavorful tea with both depth and vitality.
Appearance:
The leaves are a deep, vibrant green with a subtle gloss from natural oils. They are slender, and needle-like, neatly rolled showing uniformity and precision in processing.
Aroma:
In a preheated teapot (after discarding the heating water), the fragrance of the dry leaves is bright and clear, sweet and nutty, reflecting high amino acid content from shading.
Tasting Notes:
The first brew pours a light, jade green with an opaque, oily texture. It is light-bodied yet full of vitality and freshness, offering a sweet, mellow, and fruity character. The aftertaste lingers gently, with notes of muscat grapes and the crisp, bright freshness of green apples.
In the second brew, the umami comes forward, giving the tea depth while remaining smooth and fresh.
Brewing Recommendation:
First brew: use 6 g of tea leaf and 65°C water for 60 seconds (about 120 ml per serving).
Second brew: 75°C for 30 seconds
The tea is also available in our Japan National Tea Competition Tasting Set featuring a curated selection of our top-grade teas from the 2025 National Tea Competition of Japan.
