Toasty and fruity premium Chinese green tea from Lingyun County
Grown in the high mountains of Lingyun County, Guangxi, particularly around Cenwang Laoshan and Qinglongshan, this celebrated green tea is well known for its white downy tips. Originally known as “White Hair Tea”, its name comes from the dense white hairs on the underside of the leaves.
Thanks to its high-elevation environment- frequent clouds and mist, rich forest soil, and a mild, humid climate with temperatures between 19 to 23°C, Lingyun Baihao is prized for its five signature characteristics: vibrant green color, abundant silvery tips, rich and fragrant aroma, smooth taste, and excellent durability through multiple infusions.
Recognized as one of China’s national elite tea cultivars in 1984, its traditional production technique was also designated as a Guangxi Autonomous Region Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014.
TASTE NOTES
The fragrance is warmly toasty, like fresh-baked toast, with a gentle lychee-like fruitiness. The first infusions bring notes of sweet potato, roasted chestnut, and a hint of ginger, while later brews reveal a more nutty, grassy, and slightly tangy character. A lingering lychee sweetness remains in the aftertaste.
To avoid bitterness, this tea is best brewed with slightly cooler water, not boiling water, and shorter infusion times.
The dry leaves carry a toasty, nutty aroma with hints of lychee. The liquor is bright with a nutty, potato-skin character. The second and third infusions reveal delicate lemongrass and tropical fruit notes.
This is a delicate tea, best brewed gently to fully enjoy its refined, elegant flavors.

How to prepare
3 g 0.1 oz 0.7 US tsp
85°C 185°F
120 ml 4.1 fl oz 120 cc
20 sec.~
STEP 1) Warm your teapot. Pour boiling water into a gaiwan or teapot, let it sit for a little while, then discard all the water.
STEP 2) Fill your pot with tea leaves in a 3g/120ml ratio, pour 85°C water on them and brew for 20 seconds.
STEP 3) Serve. Pour the tea into a pitcher, and then into cups.
STEP 4) Brew again.
❖ For the second infusion, steep it for about 5-10 seconds. For every other infusion after that increase the steeping time (to about 35-40 seconds).
❖ Make sure to open the lid of the teapot between infusions, to prevent the leaves from cooking.
❖ This is how we recommend brewing this tea, but we all have our preferences, so try experimenting to find the way you like it the most.
